Woman with the Alabaster Jar

Mary Magdalene's tears are the source of the Deepest Love.  Tradition holds her as the "Woman of Sorrows" who bathed Christ's feet with tears, dried them with her long flowing hair, and anointed his head with precious unguent from her alabaster jar, who accompanied him at the foot of the Cross and at his tomb, who was foremost of his female disciples, and may well have also been his beloved spouse.

Very ancient legend attests to her fleeing with Joseph of Arimathea via Alexandria to southern France, where she gave birth to a daughter, Saint Sarah. 

For over 2000 years, Magdalene has grieved the death of the gentle, nurturant sacred masculine, as embodied in Christ. Others hold her as a Priestess of Isis with Christ her dying and resurrected consort.
