Shiva as Lord of the Dance - Nataraja

Shiva dances the dance of creation and destruction and tramples the dwarf of ignorance and illusion. His right hand holds the drum of creation and his left the fire of destruction. His left hand and foot are free to represent contemplative reality. The other hand makes a mudra of blessings. His unbounded locks fan out behind him.  He is surrounded by the flaming womb shaped universe of energy, matter, time and space.
